A sugary crescendo

There have been a lot of very pretty flowers going out from the garden these last few weeks, as spring whips itself up into a crescendo of sugary sweetness.  This week will be the last hoorah of the tulips and narcissi, as we begin to welcome the frothy fragrant heads of sweet rocket and languid trailing festoons of clematis montana, amonst other lovely things.  I am eagerly watching my very favourites, the roses, for signs of buds; it surely won't be long now...
