Still So Pretty
Although the plants and trees in the countryside around us, and in our garden at home too, are turning from green to gold and gently shedding their leaves, the late flowerers at the Flower Garden are filling the beds with colour and softness. Every year we are so grateful for the dahlias and the cosmos, and for the perennials and bulbs that really only come into their own at this time of year - the nerines, chrysanthemums and some late asters - to give us something fresh to look forward to at the end of the season. Today is the last big pick of the year, of 23 buckets of flowers to be delivered to three different florist customers, and then we can turn our full attention to weeding, division, mulching and planting, so that the garden can give us even more glorious flowers next season.
